SUCCESS STORIES

A large appliance manufactured in Mexico had purchased a Clearing SE2-6000 press. That’s a 6000 ton capacity machine. Upon installation it was discovered that both connections were broken. The customer not wanting to do a weld repair on these critical components contracted a machine shop in Mexico (Sermec) to manufacture two new connections. The machine shop contacted Rohe Engineering, LLC to recommend material specifications and to locate a supplier for these large steel castings.

We proceeded to locate sources for patterns and steel castings. As usual there was a time element and price issues involved. We were competing head to head with the OEM manufacturer. The OEM was promising unbelievable turn-around-time, but for a price. From past experience the customer decided to go with a more realistic delivery and price. Rohe Engineering, LLC procured two (2) one time poly patterns for use by the foundry. Patterns were completed in intervals of 10 days each. Patterns were supplied to the foundry who in turn prepared molds and poured the 20,000 lbs steel castings within three weeks of receiving the patterns. The castings were thermal stress relieved and shipped to the machine shop in Mexico for finish machining. The entire project was completed in 8 weeks

This drive unit is off of a 150 ton Cleveland Gap Frame Press. This unit was equipped with the old style Cleveland shoe clutch and brake. Customer ( Western Products ) was experiencing high maintenance costs, sluggish operation, excess vibration and ever increasing stopping times.  Rohe Engineering, LLC with the help of our representative in Wisconsin , Unique Source, gathered the necessary information to size, design, modify, manufacture and assemble a drive unit using an Eaton combination clutch and brake unit.

After the installation of the unit the flywheel and clutch were dynamically balanced eliminating the unwanted vibration being experienced throughout the machine.  This unit has been in operation for two years in a single stroke application with virtually no problems
